Thanks for the enthusiastic words about my CD/book fingerpicking lessons. That's always great to hear and I'm delighted you liked them so well.

You might like to try some of my DVDs, which also feature fingerpicking and singing. One called "Instant Fingerpicking Success," which is part of my "Guitar Building Blocks" series, has some good songs and "pattern picking" techniques. There may be some overlap with the CD set you have, but I think you'll like it.

My DVD fingerpicking arrangements of "Seven Classic Bob Dylan Songs" is very popular and you might enjoy that as well. We have LOTS of other stuff too, so browse around and I'm sure you'll find something. Thanks again for the endorsement of my "Fingerpicking Made Easy."

I hope this is a help to you. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Advise needed:

Hello all,

I currently own Happy Traums's Fingerpicking Made Easy CDs CDHAPPP99. This really was the best instruction book I ever owned. What I liked in particular was that  Happy combines guitar instruction with singing. So at the same time you learn to play and sing new songs.

Could you recommend a good follow up to this book?
I was thinking about Happy Traum's Complete Fingerpicking Guitar Method CDHAPFP99, I wonder if it is using the same method, guitarplaying and singing.
Or do you recommend another book?

best regards,

Bas

Thanks for all the work you put into this website Happy. I've bought many homespun titles in the past but just made Caterina Lichtenberg my first direct download. The entire experience was of the high quality I've come to expect out of Woodstock.

I spoke to Josh, the main brain at Leaping Brain, and he says they've got Linux in their sights but there are other things, like Android, that they have to do first. So, I think it will be a while before that gets done. Sorry!

I just got the latest promo email from homespun and thought I'd check and see if there had been any progress on a linux version of the Instant Access downloader.  I think I'd asked about this before in the old forum, but I couldn't find any references to linux on the website, in the new forum or otherwise, so I'll ask again:

What's the status of linux support for the Instant Access downloader?

Thanks again for everything!

Looking good!  As for the issue of the contents of the previous forum being lost - that's not really the case is it?  This is the internet, where nothing ever dies.  That info has to be out there somewhere, and it shouldn't be too hard to incorporate it into a "Knowledge Base" of sorts, like many other vendors do.  I'm trying to disavow any knowledge of the IT industry (my "job" now is officially "music") but I'd be willing to offer assistance in this if you promise not to tell anybody that I even know how to turn on a computer.

Thanks for all the knowledge!

Hi Chris,

Great to hear from you after all these years.

We normally don't give customer service, for obvious reasons, to those who purchase DVDs and other Homespun material at yard sales, eBay, second hand stores or other such outlets where neither we, nor the artist/instructor, see any remuneration for our efforts. We do give great service to anyone who buys directly from us, including the right to exchange, discounts for certain reasons, guarantees, etc.

We are able to make some exceptions these days due to the fact that most of our material is now in digital format and it can be emailed. Get in touch with us directly and we'll see what we can do for you. We certainly want to make your steel guitar experience a good one.

Happy, I hope you might help me. Months, maybe years ago, I bought a copy of Cindy Cashdollar's "Western Swing Steel Guitar, vol 2", probably on ebay, but it arrived without the essential tab booklet.

I emailed Homespun, asking if I might purchase a replacement copy, but I never got a response. Once again,  may I please buy a new copy of the tab booklet???

Best regards,

For those of you who were devotees of our old Forum, I'm sorry to say that we couldn't transfer the posts from our previous website to this one. I was sorry about that, as there were several years of good information and useful comments there. It is our hope, though, that this new and much improved website will be the start of an exciting conversation between you, our loyal and devoted musicians/customers, and us at Homespun. I look forward to your active participation and to forging ahead with even better postings. As always, your feedback is welcome and appreciated.

We would like to welcome you to the brand new Homespun Forum! In our previous website we had lots of informative posts from our fabulous customers, and we hope that this version of the forum will be even better. We're looking forward to lively and interesting musical discussions, and to hearing your comments, questions, lesson requests and anything else you'd like to add that's music-related.

Please remember that this is a forum for learning musicians at all levels, from beginners to professionals. We only ask that you keep your posts positive and on point. Thanks, as always, for your participation in Homespun's ongoing efforts to make you better players.

Musically yours, Happy Traum
