Mark Schatz has been a prominent figure on the bluegrass and Nashville music scenes for many years. Twice named IBMA Bass Player of the Year, he has toured and/or recorded with an impressive variety of artists, including The Tony Rice Unit, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Maura O'Connell, John Hartford, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Tim and Mollie O'Brien, Peter Rowan, the O'Kanes and Jonathan Edwards.

Mark is also the musical director for the internationally acclaimed percussive dance ensemble, Footworks, which showcases his clawhammer banjo and Southern Appalachian clog dancing talents. Mark's solo recording, Brand New Old Tyme Way, was produced by Béla Fleck and is on Rounder Records.
