Paul Butterfield, one of the great blues harmonica players of all time, honed his harp and vocal style in the clubs and bars of his native Chicago, learning directly from great bluesmen such as Muddy Waters, Junior Parker, Sonny Boy Williamson and Little Walter.
His first band, The Butterfield Blues Band, was one of the most powerful and influential groups of the sixties and early seventies. Paul has played with just about every great blues and rock performer, appearing on numerous albums, TV shows, and concert stages. He was featured in the film and record of The Band's "Last Waltz," on which he played behind Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan, as well as performing his own powerful solo of "Mystery Train."
