Peter Madcat Ruth has established an international reputation for his riveting virtuosity on the harmonica. He is equally at home playing blues, folk, jazz, country, or rock and roll. He has studied with Chicago blues master Big Walter Horton, and toured the world with jazz pianist Dave Brubeck. For the past several years he has been touring nationally and internationally with blues guitarist/singer Shari Kane in the duo Madcat & Kane.

Madcat's harmonica playing is heard on over 50 record albums, on national television and radio appearances, symphony orchestra performances and commercials. He has led dozens of harmonica workshops for music schools, blues societies and harmonica festivals throughout the U.S., and Europe. In 1997, Peter Madcat Ruth was named Harmonica Player of theYear by the Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica (SPAH).
