Fingerstyle Guitar
The term "fingerstyle" denotes any way of playing the acoustic guitar without a flatpick, using your fingers to pluck and strum the strings. You can play folk ballads, classical etudes, Celtic instrumentals, country blues, jazz and a myriad of other styles using this technique. An entire art form has arisen from the use of these techniques, personified by traditional musicians such as Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, as well as various contemporary Homespun artists like Al Petteway, Martin Simpson, Rory Block, Bob Brozman, Laurence Juber, Chris Proctor, Thom Bresh, Muriel Anderson and many others.
