John Doyle
John Doyle is among the most talented and innovative musicians to come out of Ireland in recent years. A left-handed player, he is an extraordinary acoustic guitarist as well as an accomplished singer and songwriter. John’s guitar can be heard accompanying many top Irish artists and on film and TV soundtracks such as “The Brothers McMullin” and “Out of Ireland.”
He toured and recorded for many years as a member of the highly acclaimed group Solas, whose first Shanachie recording received the 1996 Naird Award for best Celtic release. Their second CD, “Sunny Spells and Scattered Showers,” soared into the Top Ten of the Billboard World Music charts in 1997. John currently performs regularly with Tim O'Brien, Alison Brown, Cathie Ryan, Kate Rusby, John Williams and Liz Carroll. As a producer, he has crafted CDs for Heidi Talbot (Cherish the Ladies), Liz Carroll, and John’s father, Sean Doyle. His second solo CD will be out in Fall, 2004 on Compass Records.
