Norton Buffalo
The late Norton Buffalo was long regarded as one of the most versatile and talented harmonica players in the music business. In rock, R & B, and blues circles, he was widely acclaimed as the finest multi-genre harmonica player of our time.
For twenty-five years, Norton was a highly celebrated member of the Steve Miller Band. He also recorded and toured with some of the top names in music, worked in movies and television, and performed with his own band, the Knockouts.
Norton played on over 100 albums by artists as diverse as Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Loggins, The Doobie Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Johnny Cash, David Grisman, Juice Newton, Laurie Lewis, and Elvin Bishop. In 1987, he teamed up with legendary Bay Area slide guitar player (and Homespun instructor) Roy Rogers to form a powerful performing duet. Their special magic was captured on two albums for Blind Pig Records. Downbeat said: "All it takes is a sampling of the slide guitar/harmonica dialog on any one of these songs to comprehend how potent -and exciting- the chemistry is between Rogers and Buffalo.”
Sadly, Norton passed away in 2009 after a long illness.
