Tim Alexander
From 1982 to 1994, Tim Alexander played piano and accordion for the incomparable western swing band, Asleep At The Wheel, whose hybrid blend of swing, boogie-woogie and Texas dance hall music has helped revitalize American roots music. This popular group has achieved an avid following and nine Grammy awards over the past 45 years. A talented multi-instrumentalist with a degree in classical music, Tim played piano, organ, accordions, bajo sexto and sang. After leaving the Wheel, Tim did session work and played local Texas artists, such as Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat, Reverend Horton Heat and Elvis T. Busboy and the Blues Butchers. An enthusiast of Norteño music, Tim helped produce Homespun’s “Tex-Mex Accordion” with Flaco Jiménez. Sadly, Tim passed away unexpectedly in April, 2017.
